Employee experience: How to give employees a safe space to speak out (HR aimed)

Psychological safety in the workplace is about creating an environment where people feel they can speak up and are safe to do so – they won’t be called out or treated differently for saying how they honestly feel. It starts with being clear and transparent with employees…especially in troubling times such as the Covid pandemic. It’s important to be proactive and invite employee’s voices as they may be unaware they are allowed to freely speak up. Fundamentally, when people come forward with ideas, the response should be given in an appreciative and positive manner, even if employees come forward with bad news or issues.
